Beware of Aussies : Gavaskar

India crossed 1000 runs in this World Cup and Sachin crossed 2000. He now has 2009 in WCs, with five centuries and 13 fifties. Ponting is way behind with 1577 runs, 4 centuries and six fifties.

Yesterday's victory was carved by Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni. Competition brings out the best in man. Yuvraj was under threat from Raina, another south paw and all rounder. Now for Raina to come in, either Gambhir or Kohli should fail. Fail they both did yesterday.

It was unfortunate that Ashwin could not play. Dhoni is persevering with Bajji and Chawla. Cant blame him as disturbing a combination is not good. But against Holland and Ireland, Ashwin, Sreeshant and Raina should have been included.

Meanwhile Aussies are dangerous, says Gavaskar. The great fights between the full members of the ICC have been tough. Except for the AUS- NZ match, in which Aus crushed NZ. Even though Aus is smarting under the loss of Hayden and Gilchrist, they are still a formidable side, with powerful bowling and adequate batting.

The very fact that they are playing in adverse conditions will make them more victory hungry. They have three bowlers who can bowl at more than 150 kph. In order to satisfy their fans at home, they have to win the World Cup. They are strengthened by the presence of Michael Hussey, who can play spin very well.

The two unconquered teams are Aus and Ind. Pak was, but then they floundered against the Kiwis. They were bowled out by Canada. Many alarm bells were sounded, when they were bowled out for 184 by lowly rated Canada, but then their fans ignored those warnings, as they won against Canada. Then they were all out for 192 against NZ. Their top order has not fired yet and a wicket keeper is coming in at No 3. Normally the best batsman comes in at No 3. No 7 is also important in ODIs and the man coming at No 7 should be a game changer. Afridi at No 7 is OK. Not Kamran at No 3 !
