A far fetched possibility that India may be out of QF !

If BD defeats SA

and

If Eng beat WI by more than 95 runs

and

if India lose to WI by more than 95 runs

India may be out !

Seems like a Foxpro Coding, with lots of IFs ! But that is the equation in the WC ! But then India is at an advantage, as the last league match is March 20, when all equations are known and India can play according to the situation !

India had divided the matches into two categories, low pressure matches and high pressure matches. Now the high pressure matches start and today Eng take on mighty WI, who is in good nick!

If Eng lose today, they will be eliminated, as they have 5 points. However, if they win, they will have seven points and will be tied with India. If India lose to WI, then both India and Eng will have seven points !

If BD beat SA, then they will have 8 points and Ind and Eng will be tied at the fourth place. Then the NRR will come into play and hence the equation we have written above becomes reality !

In all probability SA will win, but then you can never know. Indian fans are always kept on tenderhooks ! ( One English commentator called Sachin, Tenderhooks Tendulkar )

Suspense is the weapon, suspense is the means, when it comes to generating interest in ODIs ! There should be upsets, there should be tied matches, the result should only be decided in the ultimate over ! Then only can cricket be redeemed !

If Test Cricket is played under floodlights, there will be more TV viewers, as they will get an opportunity to watch it at non working hours, enhancing Cricket. The one billion plus viewers of T20s and ODIs will grace Test Cricket as well and more and more nations will play the game. So the Organisers are doing the right thing, for the redemption of Cricket, which is facing immense challenge from other sports like Soccer !

It is good for Cricket that the corporates are investing 1500 crores as ads in the World Cup. It is also good for Cricket that the UDRS and high technology have come into being. It is also good for Cricket that the three formats are now established ! It is said the God contemplated playing cricket, but couldnt, as he is Alone, One without a Second ! Long live Cricket !
