Yuvraj's brilliant century redeems India !
India won the toss and batted against WI.
The first ball by R Rampaul was a typical West Indian one. It went over the batsman and the wicket keeper for four byes.
At the moment, India are 8/0.
Gambhir and Sachin opened the batting. Sehwag is injured and wants rest. Ashwin and Raina are in. The irate Indian fan had questioned the non inclusions of these two. Let us see how they fare. Also Kohli and Pathan !
Sachin is out, caught Thomas bowled Rampaul for 2 and now India are 14/1 !
Gambhir is gone for 22 and India are 80/2. Yuvraj and Kohli are playing. Previously, there were complaints from the middle and lower order batsmen that, since the top three monopolised the other matches, the middle and the lower order could not perform well. Let us see how the middle and lower orders will perform today for India !
Now India are 148/2, with Yuvraj on 67 and Kohli on 47. Kohli has just completed his 50 ( he is on 52 ) and Yuvraj on 68 and India are 154/2 off 28 overs !
The ideal scenario for Indian spinners, as on this ground Eng defended 171 and won. Thanks to Swann & Co. Can India do it this night ?
Now India has been bowled out for 268. We will put it this way. The WI got all Indian wickets cheap, except that of Yuvraj ( 113) and Kohli (59).
India repeated the same mistakes. 7 wickets fell for 50 runs. We dontknow what Dhoni meant by 'learning curves' !
Rampaul took 5/51 in a great spell of medium fast bowling.
The Story of Yuvraj
Yograj Singh was a contemporary of Kapil Dev. He was a good all rounder. He played one or two matches for India, but was not selected furthur. Meanwhile, Kapil got selection and went on to become the WC winning captain !
Yograj was disappointed that he could not play for India. He even contemplated suicide. He put a gun to his mouth and was about to pull the trigger, but somehow he desisted. He taught his young son the intricacies of bowling and batting. That boy grew up to be ................ Yuvraj !
