If you want Internet Audio Commentary

Cricket Freeq is started by Kapil Dev in association with Reliance Communications. It is Channel 2 Gp's Internet radio platform for cricket. India's first Internet Radio channel will feature Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Clive Lloyd. Cricketfreeq will offer ball by ball commentary and analysis of all matches along with prize of $ one million. Channel 2 Group is promoted by Dubai based Indian businessman, Ajay Sethi and he has acquired radio broadcast rights for leading sports events like English Premier League, Dutch League and WC 2011. Key sponsors for Cricketfreeq are MoneyGram, TravelPort and SpiceJet. Cost of Cricketfreeq is 135 crores.
MoneyGram India is the Indian arm of MoneyGram International, the US based Money Transfer company headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

The market for Net Audio is immense. India alone has a connected population of 81 million. Of which 25 million are active Internet users, being almost 24 hours online. ( I found it very convenient yesterday to tune in to the www.cricketfreeq.com channel. If I view www.espnstar.com channel, a heavy broadband bill will come. So I prefer the Audio version ).
The subcontinent has a population of 1500 million, of which more than 50% are cricket crazy. The populations of England, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the WI are not more than 50 million per nation. Their combined population will be less than 200 million.
So when we survey the population of Commonwealth cricket nations, we find that we have a population of nearly 2000 million. 75% of that is in the Indian subcontinent!
Now Indian corporates are joining the bandwagon. The IPL IV will be a huge success. All this point out to the furthur rise of India in the cricketing field !
These are the populations of the major cricketing nations
India 1200 million
Pak 170
BD 150
Eng 51
WI 36
Aus 24
NZ 4
SA 49
Zim 12
Ire 6
KEN 40
CAN 34
SL 20
NED 6
So it is only natural that the majority of the viewers are Indians, out of the one blllion plus viewers. Now cricket is India's national game, like England's and Cricket is here to stay ! No wonder the Indian corporates or the counterparts of Western corporates are jumping into the bandwagon !
