Bajji lofts Mumbai to victory !
Bajji lofted Shakib for a six in the last over of the match as Mumbai beat Kolkotta in a thrilling finish.
Now Mumbai meet Bangalore on Qualifier II and the winners will go on to face defending champions Chennai.
Kolkotta was reduced to 147/7, as the Mumbai bowlers exploited the slow Wankhede track well. And Mumbai was going on to an easy victory, but then loss of some quick wickets put Kolkotta back in the game.
Pollard and Rayudu were dismissed cheaply and Mumbai were in the doldrums, but Bajji and Franklin (29 off 25 ) steered Mumbai home.
Mumbai raced to a glorious speedy start as Aidon Blizzard ( 51 ) and Tendulkar ( 36 ) blasted the Kolkottans to all parts of the field, leaving Gambhir gasping. Lee removed Blizzard and then R Sharma was unnecessarily run out. Sachin followed suit and Kolkotta was well back into the game.
Tendo partnered Y Pathan in a 60 run partnership for the fifth wicket to redeem Kolkotta, who were in too deep in the Mulligatawny soup, after losing four wickets. With Shakib, Tendo put on 41 runs for the sixth wicket to take Kolkotta to a good total.
Kolkotta lost Gambhir (4) and Kallis ( 7 ) and slumped to 13/2. Kallis hit Patel for four but his uppish drive was held by Sachin. Gambhir started well with a four, but was bowled by Bajji. Goswami was snapped up behind the stumps and Kolkotta were soon 20/4 ! Manoj Tiwari was trapped leg before by Kulkarni and Mumbai were right on top. Tendo lofted Franklin for six in the 8th over. Pollard was hit for 15 runs in one over, one six by Tendo and another four by him. Yousuf smashed Tendo for four in the same over. Yousuf hammered Bajji straight and top edged Munaf for fours in consecutive overs. Shakib hit Kulkarni for three fours before he was bowled by Slinga Malinga. Tendo went on adding precious runs, lofting Pollard for a six and a four, to give the innings some semblance of respectability.
