Rohit pulls India to victory





A glorious innings of 68 not out by Rohit Sharma saw India home . WI could only score 214 and Indian won by four wickets.

Off 75 balls, Rohit smashed 68 to pull India to victory. He was aided by the Indian skipper Suresh Raina (43 ) and India laboured to victory.Earlier Sarwan and Samuels scored fifties but the rest of the West Indian batsmen failed to capitalise. The Indian bowlers bowled superbly to restrict the Carribeans to 214 in their allotted fifty overs.Praveen Kumar, Raina and Munaf Patel took two wickets each and Bajji took three wickets to stifle the Carribeans.

Sharma smashed a six and three fours and put on 80 runs for the fifth wicket with skipper Raina and India lead the series now 1-0.

Shikhar Dhawan scored his maiden 50, 51 off 76 balls. It was a solid innings and held the Indian innings together till Rohit Sharma took over. The other opener Parthiv was run out unnecessarily and Kohli threw his wicket away, slashing at a wide ball off Rampaul. Badrinath tried to square cut the leg spinner Devendra Bishoo but the ball ended up in Baugh's hands. In walked Sharma and he along with Dhawan put on 43 runs for the fourth wicket. Dhawan reached his coveted half century but perished soon, trying to slog sweep Martin. Raina scored a gutsy 43 but was out to Martin. Yousuf Pathan failed, caught and bowled by Ravi Rampaul. Bajji lofted Darren Sammy into the stands and the match was over, with 5.1 overs to spare.
